Application Support
Application Support provides systems overview, written instructions, and assistance with tasks associated with applications as well as consults on purchases of software or peripherals related to our supported applications.

Computer Exchange Program
The Computer Exchange Program replaces obsolete and non-supported desktops and laptops with CEP desktops and laptops to help ensure that faculty and staff technology needs are being met and that computers meet current standards.

Computer Purchases
Purchasing desktop and laptop computers for departments and for personal use.

Computer Standards
Provides review and recommendation of hardware specifications based on current faculty/staff request and usage.

Computer Support
Provides troubleshooting and diagnosis of laptop and desktop issues associated with hardware and software failures.

Eagle Back-up
In The University Technology & Data Center (UTDC), we offer workstation back-up for all faculty and staff.

Equipment Services
Technicians provide advice and guidance in selecting equipment for use in classrooms and conference rooms. Equipment is loaned or rented and can be delivered upon request.

Event Services
Support of audio services and multi-media needs for the following events: university non-academic sponsored, alumni, IHL State College Board.

Faculty and staff have access to the Southern Miss wireless network.

File Services for Departments
In The University Technology and Data Center (UTDC), we offer file storage for university departments. This service can be used as a common location to share files with individuals and teams.

Help Desk
Central service desk for requesting technology related assistance or information.

Help Desk How To's
The knowledge base will contain assistance with common technical issues, answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and help with computer configuration and setup.

Information Security
Â鶹´«Ã½ Information Security is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Â鶹´«Ã½ Information Security Program and also ensuring compliance with a range of federal and state cybersecurity policies, regulations, and laws.

Multimedia Classroom Support
Installation and support of approved multimedia equipment and licensed software for laptop and desktop Windows-based clients in the classroom. We can help with hardware and software issues in the classroom.

Network and Wireless Services
We provide services related to requests, activations, service changes and repairs. Includes services for Virtual Private Network (VPN), Wired access and wireless access.

Network Moves, Adds and Changes
When you move or renovate, don't forget your network connections and your telephones. Contact us to help you plan and manage your changes.

Password Management
The CampusID Password is used to log into SOAR, SOARFIN, Canvas, email, etc for faculty, staff, and students.  You will use the CampusID Password Management site to change this password.

Policies and Procedures
Develop policies for The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ that bring the institution into compliance with State and Federal regulation.

Printing Services
Print and copy in the Learning Commons on all campuses

Project Planning
Consultation services provided as the initial point-of-contact for faculty and staff for technology solutions to be evaluated and/or deployed.

Public Access
Visitors can stay connected to the internet when they come to the campuses of The University of Â鶹´«Ã½.

Public Computing
Public computers are available at the Learning Commons on all campuses.

Security Incident Response
In case of an information security incident that threatens the availability, confidentiality and integrity of university information assets, information systems and the networks that deliver the information, a security incident response will follow in order to promptly restore operations impacted by the incident.

Server Hosting
Server hosting, server support and server administration services are available in The University Technology and Data Center (UTDC).

SOAR/SOARFIN/SOARHR Software Development
Provides operational support for the university's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems SOAR (Southern's On-line Accessible Records for student administration and HR Payroll modules) and SOARFIN (Southern's On-line Accessible Records-Financials for financial administration and reporting).

Software Downloads
Software is available for free download or purchase by faculty, staff and students.

Student Telephone Request Process
Residence Hall Telephone Services

  • Student phone service is included in the housing rate and includes the following features: area calling, auto callback, call transfer (on campus only), call waiting, conference calls, hold, voicemail, call forwarding/cancel, redial, caller ID and send all calls to voicemail.
  • Students must contact the Help Desk to activate telephone services in Residence Halls.
  • iTech will provide the service. Students must provide the phone (except at Century Park). Students requesting caller ID must have a caller ID capable phone or adapter.
  • Activation will occur within three (3) business days of the request. Phones will be deactivated after graduation occurs for each semester.
    • Note: 3-day policy excludes Century Park
    • No disconnect fees apply
    • $30 relocation fee will be required if changes are made after the phone has been activated. This fee is NON-refundable.

Student Wireless
Students have access to the Southern Miss wireless network.

Telephone Services
Telephone services for faculty, staff and students. We can provide telephone services to university-affiliated groups that reside off-campus.

Web Accounts
When a department or organization wishes to make a presence on the Internet, the first step is to have space to install their site. The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ provides this space in the form of an account on the University Web server (eduprod.usm.edu). This account consists of a username, a password, an e-mail account and space for Web documents.

Workstation Back-up
In The University Technology & Data Center (UTDC), we offer workstation back-up for all faculty and staff.
