Statement of Purpose
The International Flag and Native American Flag Showcases in the R.C. Cook University Union serve as a beacon of our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment at The University of Â鶹´«Ã½. As part of our mission to provide a gathering place that unifies our diverse community, these showcases highlight our intention to promote a sense of belonging among all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.
By proudly displaying these flags, we aim to celebrate and honor the rich cultural heritage of our community members while fostering an environment that promotes understanding and respect for all identities. The showcases serve as a reminder of the Union’s commitment to advocating for inclusivity, equity, and diversity.
The Union strives to be the heart of the campus community by creating a welcoming environment that encourages all individuals to connect and engage with one another. Our facilities and services bring the campus and its guests together through a variety of programs and events, providing opportunities to learn from and appreciate one another's unique perspectives.
In promoting a safe learning environment, the Union recognizes the importance of creating an inclusive gathering place where Southern Miss students, faculty, and staff can connect with one another.
