The Â鶹´«Ã½ Digital Humanities Proficiency Badge documents mastery of fundamental Digital Humanities skills and participation as a scholarly contributor in a major faculty DH research project. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Digital Humanities Proficiency Badge program is available for both Â鶹´«Ã½ graduate students and graduate students at other universities.

What Are the Requirements?

It requires the successful completion of and . These courses are taught every year. They also count as six hours toward the Â鶹´«Ã½ Graduate Certificate in Public History, the Library Science Archival Certificate Program, the English graduate allied field requirement, and the History graduate research tool.

What Will I Learn?

  • Enhanced ability to apply computational tools to humanities analysis and interpretation; the ability to analyze and explain methodological approaches behind Digital Humanities scholarship; and the ability to engage with and contribute to current theoretical debates in Digital Humanities.
  • Expertise in working with and innovating alongside collaborative, interdisciplinary teams; mastery of new investigative methods and tools to advance and expand existing area(s) of specialization; ability to direct non-experts to key digital methodologies and tools to advance learning and engage diverse audiences through digital humanities technologies.
  • Mastery of skills in combining quantitative and qualitative research to advance a scholarly argument; demonstrated ability to adapt to technological advances in field(s) of expertise.
  • Mastery of data analysis, visualization, and exhibit software, tools, and technology appropriate for conveying digital humanities content.
