Welcome to the School of Construction and Design at Southern Miss!
Our School offers nationally accredited programs that provide relevant knowledge and technology for design and construction education to serve the professional needs of the construction, architecture, and interior design sectors.
By offering a learning environment that fosters the development of critical thinking and ethical understanding of knowledge and technology for the built environment and society at large, our students are prepared for success after graduation.
Our School has experienced an increase in student enrollment over the past years, making it one of the fastest growing programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. It also offers the only accredited fully in construction—the Construction Management degree.
The School of Construction and Design offers an exceptional educational environment for individuals who wish to explore new frontiers in the built environment. The mission of the School of Construction and Design is to provide relevant knowledge and technology for design, construction, engineering, and management education in order to serve the professional needs of the Construction, Architecture, and Interior Design sectors.
To achieve its mission, the School will provide a learning environment that fosters the development of critical thinking and ethical understanding of the knowledge and technology for the built environment and society at large.
- The Construction Management program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education ().
- The Architectural Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of.
- The Interior Design program is dually accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (), and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design ().
- The Construction Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. (Summer of 2019 was the last semester students were able to declare Construction Engineering Technology as their major. The Construction Engineering Technology degree is implementing a teach out plan to enable its current majors to complete the 120 credit hour degree plan by Fall 2022.)
