Speaker Series
The Hatchery's speaker series provides Southern Miss student innovators and entrepreneurs inspiration and resources in a relaxed atmosphere. Coffee w/ an Entrepreneur highlights leading entrepreneurs from various industries and Lunch w/ the Hatchery features various Hatchery mentors and resource providers. Monthly Pitch Opportunities
CheckPoint Seed Fund is the first stage of FlightPath, The Hatchery's resource-filled program for student entrepreneurs and innovators. CheckPoint Seed Fund Pitch Event grants students the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of student entrepreneurs, gaining valuable feedback and the eligibility to receive $500 to validate the desirability of their idea through simple experiments. Interested students should schedule idea consultations as early as they can in the semester (in order to apply), as opportunities fill up quickly.
Golden Idea Pitch Competition
The annual Golden Idea Pitch Competition provides Southern Miss students with support, mentorship, and funding to help launch their big ideas. All current Southern Miss students–from all majors, disciplines, and campuses–are eligible and encouraged to participate. This competition begins with a simple application, followed by qualifying rounds like the Golden Idea Mixer to identify the top ten finalists. Three top prizes are awarded during the final round. This competition focuses on the 4 Cs of entrepreneurship - Community, Collaboration, Creativity, and Curiosity.
