Physical Requirements
Along with keeping fit, all cadets must conform to the maximum weight and body fat standards as established by the United States Air Force. Such a requirement is necessary to maintain the proper degree of professionalism and a sharp, fit appearance in uniform. Those students/cadets who are over their maximum allowable weight will have their percent of body fat checked. If they exceed their maximum allowable body fat, they receive a conditional event or may be placed in a special student status.
Before you can activate a scholarship offer, you will be required to meet Air Force ROTC weight and fitness standards when you arrive on campus and enroll in Air Force ROTC. Please visit regarding the most up-to-date physical requirements.
Fitness Standards
Physical Training is paramount to the Air Force Mission. Airman and Officers strive to maintain physical fitness standards, ensuring that we are "Fit to Fight". All Air Force ROTC cadets are now required to attend Physical Training classes. The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ allows cadets to take these courses for academic credit.
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) must be taken every term by all cadets enrolled in Air Force ROTC. Non-scholarship GMC cadets must only attempt the test. Scholarship cadets and cadets in the POC, however, must pass the test each fall and spring. The PFT is composed of three events, with a five minute rest between events. A body-mass circumference measurement is also taken. To pass the test, all events must be completed and a minimum score of 75 must be obtained.
The PFT components are:
- Push-ups
- Sit-ups
- 1.5 mile run
- Abdominal circumference
