The de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at The University of Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) will host a Pre-Conference for Local Writers and Illustrators on April 9, one day prior to the start of the Fay B. Kaigler Children's Book Festival. This pre-conference will feature a session with a literary agent and an afternoon panel with local published authors and illustrators.
At this event, Kaitlyn Katsoupis will discuss what it means to write for a target audience of middle-grade and young adult readers. Katsoupis will also address elements of voice, marketability and more, while giving guidance on what it means to find a balance between writer and content.
Following lunch, a panel of local published authors and illustrators will discuss their various paths to becoming published book creators. With a variety of genres and age levels represented in the panel’s published books, audience members will gain a better understanding of the various ways to get their work into the hands of readers.
The pre-conference is limited to the first 40 registrants; cost is $75 and includes lunch. Following the afternoon panel, a tour of the de Grummond Children's Literature Collection will be offered. .
