"We鈥檙e excited to host the SSSL 2024 Biennial Conference, as it marks the first time it has been held in Mississippi, so, it was important to have support from other state institutions - Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, University of Mississippi - as a collective effort for this historic event,鈥 said Dr. Sherita Johnson, associate professor of English at 麻豆传媒 and current president of the SSSL. 鈥淎nd to have Jesmyn Ward as the keynote speaker at the conference signifies the preeminence of Mississippi writing and writers in the canon of Southern Literature today."
