Fall Concert A
The Repertory Dance Company kicks off its fall season with Fall Concert A, running from Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in Studio 115 of the Theater and Dance Building. This year’s program features works by Â鶹´«Ã½ students and faculty and will host a special performance from Lawrence M. Jackson, Â鶹´«Ã½ alum and guest artist.
"Rain Walley, a Dance Performance and Choreography major from Meridian, Miss., reflects on the significance of preparing for the upcoming concert: “The most rewarding part of this experience has been my growth in confidence. In the past, I was insecure about sharing my choreographies with others. My cast has been incredibly supportive – reassuring me, helping me explore new ideas, and pushing my artistic boundaries. This experience is something I'll never forget.â€
Fall Concert B
Continuing the season, Fall Concert B will take place from Nov. 14 - 16, also at 7 p.m. in Studio 115. This performance showcases innovative new works by faculty member Brianna Jahn and repertory pieces from RDC. Audiences can expect an eclectic range of dance styles, offering a glimpse into the diverse talents within the Southern Miss Dance Program.
Each performance offers a deeply personal exploration of themes, reflecting the choreographers’ unique artistic journeys. Chloe Jones, a Dance Performance and Choreography major from Laurel, Miss., shares the inspiration behind her original piece, Whispers of Wings: “My work delves into themes of belonging, disorientation, and the journey toward self-discovery. Through this choreography, I aim to capture the complex emotions of seeking acceptance while navigating the challenges of personal growth, celebrating the resilience required to carve one’s own path.â€
Dance Student Showcase
Closing out the fall semester, the Dance Student Showcase on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. in Studio 115 will feature performances by the Student Dance Organization and the Freshman Repertory Dance Company. This free event, produced by students, is a lively celebration of emerging talent, where audiences can enjoy a vibrant afternoon of dance.
Don’t miss the chance to experience the talent and artistry of the Repertory Dance Company and the next generation of dancers at Â鶹´«Ã½. Whether you're a long-time supporter of the arts or new to dance, the Fall concerts and Student Dance Showcase promise an unforgettable experience.
