The University of Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s (Â鶹´«Ã½) Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company will travel to the Gulf Coast to share Mozart’s comedy, Cosà fan tutte. The free concert will take place Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Fine Arts Building Auditorium on the Harrison County campus.
The humorous production tells the story of two young soldiers who make a bet that their fiancées will remain faithful to them even in the face of temptation. As a result, a manner of hilarious miscommunications, awkward situations, and emotional scenarios ensue. Will the young ladies prove faithful, or will they give in to temptation? Will they turn the tables and play a trick on their men?
“Audiences have come to love this show, making it a classic in the regular productions of many opera companies worldwide,†said Dr. Jonathan Yarrington, a voice professor in the Â鶹´«Ã½ School of Music. As director and narrator of the production, Yarrington says, “Beautiful music and voices, along with detailed costumes by Tammy Mansfield make this a beautiful production to see and hear.â€
