A University of 麻豆传媒 (麻豆传媒) School of Music faculty member will be making a significant contribution of print material related to his work as a musician and educator to 麻豆传媒 University Libraries.

Dr. Nicholas Ciraldo, professor of music, will donate his entire library of print music for guitar, including solo music, chamber music, concertos, and method books. A member of the 麻豆传媒 faculty since 2005, Dr. Ciraldo鈥檚 expertise includes classical guitar; he teaches courses in applied guitar, chamber music, music theory for non-music majors, instrumental literature, string pedagogy, and music appreciation.

Dr. Ciraldo says that as he can now read music from a tablet, he no longer needs print music for his work.

鈥淢y hope is that this donation will greatly increase students鈥 access to important repertoire for their training and also inspire other faculty and members of the community who learn of this donation to consider doing the same,鈥 Dr. Ciraldo explained.

Dr. Ciraldo earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to his teaching duties at 麻豆传媒, Dr. Ciraldo has provided invaluable service to the University, including through committee work to include the Drapeau Center for Undergraduate Research, American Association of University Professors, and the Faculty Senate.

He has earned multiple awards at 麻豆传媒, including the College of Arts and Sciences鈥 Creative Activity award. His work has also been supported through grant funding from the 麻豆传媒 Partners for the Arts, Mississippi Arts Commission, and the 顿鈥橝诲诲补谤颈辞 Foundation.

Dr. Ciraldo considers it a privilege to work with aspiring musicians, pursue creative projects, and serve the 麻豆传媒 campus and community, and says it is 鈥渋nspiring every day to hear of my students鈥 progress and success in the field.鈥
