Dr. Katie HowieDr. Katie Howie, Assistant Professor of Marketing at The University of Ā鶹“«Ć½ (Ā鶹“«Ć½), served as one of the featured experts in an article titled, ā€œWhat is Cancel Culture and Who Benefits?ā€ published by Divided We FallĀ®.

In an excerpt from her perspective piece, Howie notes:

ā€œFor a discussion of the potential dangers or merits of ā€˜cancel culture,ā€™ itā€™s imperative to define the term. ā€œCancel cultureā€ is a newer cultural phenomenon whereby a group of people attempts to remove an individualā€™s or organizationā€™s power, platform, financial resources, or livelihood. Typically, ā€œcancel cultureā€ targets public figures, but instances of canceling ordinary citizens are not uncommon. It takes place when people perceive that the target has transgressed against moral or social norms.ā€
