Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists from across the state gathered for the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) Annual Continuing Education Conference in Jackson on September 1-3, 2021.
Amy Rosonet Lebert and Dr. Kimberly Ward, faculty in the School of Speech and Hearing Sciences at The University of 麻豆传媒 (麻豆传媒), served as chairs for the conference.
The conference is the largest continuing education event for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in the state, offering quality continuing education units (CEU) approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). According to LeBert, the conference offered remarkable, top-notch speakers with current research and updates in the field.
LeBert said organizing the conference was a huge commitment that required many revisions due to the ever-changing landscape. She noted that providing quality learning opportunities for the profession made the long hours and tedious details worth it.
鈥淲e both believe strongly in volunteerism and dedication to our profession,鈥 LeBert said. 鈥淲e care about the quality of CEU's offered to our colleagues through MSHA. We wanted to offer our enthusiasm, passion, innovative ideas, organization, and planning expertise to our state association. We knew it would be an arduous task given the circumstances, but also knew we could make it a conference for the books鈥.and we did.鈥
Lebert and Ward worked tirelessly to ensure that all 337 attendees could learn and enjoy a safe face-to-face experience. The MSHA Conference offered nearly 60 continuing education sessions on topics including: ethics, swallow management, ototoxicity, vestibular disorders, executive function, diversity, equity, and inclusion in communication sciences and disorders, central auditory processing disorders, and telepractice.
