Research Laboratory Manager- Flynt Lab

Bio

Dr. Olga Mavrodi obtained her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Washington State University (WSU). During her postdoctoral work at WSU, she selected, screened and characterized microorganisms producing novel antibacterial and antifungal metabolites. She also studied the contribution of plant microbiome and plant-microbe interactions to the management of soilborne diseases of wheat, corn, and soybean in the Pacific Northwest. In 2013, she moved to Mississippi and studied Pierce’s disease of grapes at the USDA ARS Southern Horticultural Research Laboratory. During the COVID-19 epidemic, she managed a high-complexity CLIA diagnostic laboratory conducting 24-hour turnaround COVID tests for Â鶹´«Ã½ students, faculty, and staff. She is currently an Instrumentation and Services Core Project Coordinator at the Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (MS-INBRE) and a Research Laboratory Manager in Dr. Alex Flynt’s research group.
