The Story
In the fall of 2011, the Luckyday Foundation generously donated $4 million to The University of 麻豆传媒 and the construction of the Century Park South Project. Luckyday Foundation Renews Support for Scholarship Program at Southern Miss
Century Park South is a residential living project that provides 954 beds, program space for the Luckyday Program, and the new Moffitt Health Center. The total project cost is about $55.6 million.
Space to Live, Space to Grow
Two buildings in Century Park South, Vann Hall and Luckyday Citizenship Hall, were just completed in time for students to move in for the fall semester of 2014. The third building in the project, Scott Hall, opened in January of 2015. With an entrance facing Spirit Park, the Luckyday offices are located on the bottom floor of Vann Hall. There is an informal lounge area, offices for Luckyday staff, a multi-functional classroom, workroom, and an outdoor covered patio. In addition, a large multi-purpose room and a teaching kitchen is located on the second floor. The multi-purpose room sits above the main walkway students traverse to walk from Century Park North to the rest of campus. This multi-purpose room is used for leadership team events, trainings, and other special events.
Luckyday Citizenship Hall provides space for our freshmen Luckyday Scholars to live. The arrangement of this residence hall is unique in that each floor has fewer residents than other halls, private bathrooms are located across the halls from the bedrooms, and there are kitchens, dining areas, living rooms, and laundry rooms on each floor. This concept helps with the living-learning communities that are promoted within the Luckyday Citizenship Program. Upperclassman mentors have more opportunities to spend time with freshmen and the open floor plan helps to promote interaction among the residents.
