After taking The DuBard Association Method® Basic Course, the next step to your understanding of this method is within the Seminar. Advance your skills in this structured, phonetic, multisensory teaching-learning strategy that is Orton-Gillingham based in content and principles of instruction and has changed the lives of individuals with language disorders for over 60 years.

  • A review of the beginning levels of the DuBard Association Method®
  • The structure of language as utilized at the various story levels of the method
  • Advanced decoding skills, comprehension, written expression, and fluency
  • Correlative programs: math, telling time, calendar work, and related subject areas
  • Lesson planning
  • Development of materials
  • Task analysis of commercial textbook material for modification for children with language disorders
  • Syllable types and transfer to texts

Those who have successfully completed a three-semester-hour course (or the equivalent) in the basics of the DuBard Association Method®

Individuals who wish to enroll on an academic credit basis must be admitted/readmitted to The University of Â鶹´«Ă½ the semester before the course and before the registration process may be completed. Contact DuBard School to learn more.

Completion of this course may lead to national professional certification as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) or Certified Academic Language (CALT) by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA).

Program completion requirements: Participants are expected to complete the entire program. Individuals who do not complete the full program will not be recommended for CEUs. No credit will be provided. If attending the course virtually, participants will need access to a device with internet access to complete the course. Course Structure

This 45-hour course is comprised of two components. Participants access asynchronous online modules up to three weeks before the synchronous sessions. These modules included an overview of terminology, characteristics of different disorders, dyslexia, theories, and Northampton symbol production. Each module requires 80% accuracy on a brief quiz after viewing the videos. These modules are completed prior to the beginning of synchronous sessions. The second component of the course is live synchronous sessions which may be completed virtually or face-to-face.

DuBard School Accreditation

The DuBard Association Method® training course of DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi holds accredited status from the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) for its instructional programs at the teaching, instructor of teaching, therapy, and instructor of therapy levels.

IMSLEC is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1995 to accredit organizations that offer programs to prepare specialists in multisensory structured language programs. Click this link for more information.
